Do you know about - Types of Air Pollution - Vehicle Emissions

Emissions! Again, for I know. Ready to share new things that are useful. You and your friends.

As the amount of vehicles on the roads increases, so does the amount of car pollution. There are four main types of air pollution identified by the Environmental Protection Agency and all of them are found in vehicle emissions.

What I said. It isn't outcome that the real about Emissions. You look at this article for information on anyone want to know is Emissions.

How is Types of Air Pollution - Vehicle Emissions

We had a good read. For the benefit of yourself. Be sure to read to the end. I want you to get good knowledge from Emissions.

Before we identify the four types of air pollution, let us take a look at what causes these pollutions. Cars and trucks do not burn all of the fuel that goes into the combustion chamber. In fact, most cars only burn about 85% of the fuel and as the car gets older less and less fuel is burned. It is this unburned fuel that is responsible for a lot of the air pollution problems today.
The first type of air pollution is carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is dangerous because it reduces the amount of oxygen that can be delivered to our body's organs and tissues, which can be life threatening. A mild poisoning of this toxic gas will result in headaches and dizziness. According to a 1999, EPA study, road vehicles are responsible for 51% of carbon monoxide pollution. Of that 51%, cars and light trucks make up 87%.

The second type of air pollution is hydrocarbons. The EPA estimates that the average American car driven 12,500 miles per year produces 10,727 lbs of hydrocarbons. Damage to lung tissue and other respiratory problems are caused by hydrocarbons. Road vehicles make up 29% of hydrocarbon pollution with cars and light trucks responsible for 88% of that pollution.

Fuel burning at high temperatures will produce a third air pollutant called, nitrogen oxides.

Thirty-four percent of nitrogen oxide pollutants are produced by road vehicles with cars and light trucks responsible for 52% of that and diesel vehicles responsible for 42%.

The combination of sunlight, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide results in the smog phenomenon. Smog is found in cities all over the world. Hot, humid and sunny summers increase smog. As you may recall, there was a serious smog problem in LA back in the 80's. The state of California had to mandate that oil companies sell a cleaner burning fuel to help reduce smog.

Particle matter is the final type of air pollution. Haze is the result of this pollution due to actual particle s of solids and liquids found in the air. The majority of particle matter pollution is produced by industrial plants. Vehicles are only responsible for 10% of this air pollution, but of that 10%, diesel vehicles produce 72%.

Vehicles are the primary cause of air pollution in urban areas. As more vehicles fill our roads, more pollution fills the air. Every step should be taken to reduce the types of air pollution, for the health of our planet.

For more information on the types of air pollution visit the EPA website.

Do you know about - What is Pollution?

Emissions! Again, for I know. Ready to share new things that are useful. You and your friends.

Pollution is contamination by a chemical or other agent that renders part of the environment unfit for intended or desired use. These uses also and very importantly include all wildlife and ecological requirements to sustain life in all its natural forms.

What I said. It is not the final outcome that the real about Emissions. You check out this article for information on an individual want to know is Emissions.

How is What is Pollution?

We had a good read. For the benefit of yourself. Be sure to read to the end. I want you to get good knowledge from Emissions.

Pollution damages the Earth's land, water and air. It results in contamination of the earth's environment with materials that interfere with human health, the quality of life, and the natural functioning of ecosystems (living organisms and their physical surroundings).

Pollution is usually caused by human actions, but can also be the consequence of natural disasters. Pollution can also occur from disruption or damage to wastewater collection and treatment infrastructure due to severe natural events like hurricanes or flooding. Most types of pollution affect the immediate area surrounding the source, and reduce as you move away from the source.

Pollution is often caused by the garbage that people throw on the ground or into oceans, lakes or rivers.

Pollution exists in many forms and affects many different aspects of the Earth's environment. Some main types of pollution are:-

- Water pollution is a serious global problem and the largest water pollution problem is from sewage contaminating watercourses.

- Air pollution arising from many sources, and is bad in cities. Car transport emissions causes a lot of the air pollution we see. But did you know that air pollution also can exist inside homes and other buildings? Poor ventilation causes about half of the indoor air pollution problems. Air pollution contributes to the greenhouse effect.

- Highway vehicles, and shipping, are major contributor to air pollution worldwide.

- Photochemical air pollution is commonly referred to as 'smog'. Urban air pollution is often caused by a photochemical, and is commonly known as smog.

- Radioactive pollution results from inadequate nuclear safety.

- Light pollution, includes light trespass, over-illumination and astronomical interference.

- Noise is a form of pollution as well but is unlike the others as it is transient; once the pollution stops, the environment is free of it.

Recently, there has been a heightened interest in the intercontinental transport of pollution. European pollution has been tracked to Asia, as well as the Arctic.

Pollution control involves higher production costs for the industries concerned, but failure to implement adequate controls may result in irreversible environmental damage and an increase in the incidence of diseases such as cancer.

Pollution can be achieved by reducing or eliminating waste at the source by modifying production processes, promoting the use of non-toxic or less-toxic substances, implementing conservation techniques, and re-using materials rather than putting them into the waste stream. But even with these new laws air pollution is still on the increase overall throughout the world. This is especially so in the developing countries.

We should all do what we can to minimize pollution and become 'green'.

I hope you will get new knowledge about Emissions. Where you can put to used in your evryday life. And most of all, your reaction is Emissions. Read more.. What is Pollution?.
